My stay at the Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Downtown had its highs and lows. I loved the unique charm of the historic bank building and the welcoming staff (they were really friendly!). However, I faced some service issues, particularly with housekeeping, which impacted my overall satisfaction.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and comfortable, but it could've used a more thorough cleaning. I found leftover food from a previous guest, which was quite disappointing.
Service
5.0
While the staff was generally friendly, I experienced frustrating delays with housekeeping, as I had to call multiple times to get towels. This was unusual for my past experiences with Marriott.
Location
8.0
The hotel is ideally located near the Gaslamp Quarter, which made it easy for me to explore great restaurants and attractions. However, the presence of homeless individuals in the area did have me feeling a bit uneasy while out.
Dining
7.0
I found the breakfast offerings to be delicious and had a pleasant dining experience at the Bistro, but I did miss having a complimentary breakfast option.
Facilities
5.0
The lobby area had a cozy feel, and I appreciated the high-quality bar experience. However, the fitness equipment was challenging to use, and the service for addressing that issue could've been better.

My stay at the Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Downtown was quite nice. The historic charm of the building, which used to be a bank, really distinguished it from other places I've stayed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, though I did encounter a rather odd issue with a jammed door one night that left me a bit unsettled. The location in downtown, close to popular attractions, made exploring San Diego easy and enjoyable.

The rooms were spacious and designed quite differently from typical Courtyard locations. However, one night, I had a strange experience with the door to the hotel being jammed, which was quite alarming.

The building's unique features, including its historic elements, added a special touch to the experience. The valet parking was a bit pricey, but it was convenient given the downtown location.

I had a fantastic stay at Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Downtown, where the historic charm of the building truly stood out. The central location made it easy for me to explore the Gaslamp Quarter and nearby attractions. However, the experience was somewhat marred by a few service hiccups, particularly during check-in and room service. Overall, it was an enjoyable visit with unique architectural features and great amenities.

My room was spacious and comfortable, featuring a nice view of the waterfront. It was tastefully decorated and impeccably clean, although I struggled a bit to find the mattress comfortable.
Service

Although the restaurant staff was incredibly friendly, I had a less-than-ideal experience during check-in. It took a while to sort out a booking mix-up, and I felt unsupported when handling my luggage upon arrival.
Location

The hotel is perfectly situated in downtown San Diego, providing easy access to a wealth of dining options and attractions. Being able to walk to the House of Blues and other sites made my stay all the more enjoyable.

The hotel's amenities, including valet parking and a cozy lobby bar, added to the experience. However, I faced some challenges with room service not being consistent during my stay.

7.4/10

I enjoyed my stay at the Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Downtown, largely due to its fascinating former bank setting and the impressive restoration that highlighted the building’s rich history. The staff were incredibly friendly and responsive, making my experience even better. However, the nightly valet parking fee of $54 did feel a bit steep, and I noticed some safety concerns while walking around the area in the evening. Overall, it was a nice stay, and I would recommend it.

Rooms
8.0
The room I stayed in was quite spacious and clean, offering a nice view of the city. It came with the necessary amenities, including a coffee maker and microwave, contributing to my comfort during the stay.
Service
9.0
The service was exemplary with the staff being attentive and accommodating throughout my visit. They helped with any requests I had and ensured my stay was pleasant.
Location
7.0
The hotel is perfectly situated in downtown San Diego, making it easy to access the Gaslamp Quarter and numerous eateries, which I loved exploring. However, I felt uneasy walking alone at night due to the presence of homeless individuals in the area.
Dining
8.0
I appreciated the breakfast options offered at the hotel, which were tasty and varied. The on-site dining provided a great start to my day, though I did notice some restaurants nearby that seemed worth trying.
Facilities
7.0
While the valet parking was convenient, the $54 daily charge seemed excessive. The hotel lacked a dedicated parking lot, which is common in downtown areas, but the valet service was efficient.

My stay at Courtyard By Marriott San Diego Downtown was fantastic overall. The hotel's historic charm and great location near the Gaslamp Quarter really made my trip enjoyable. However, the initial room I received lacked natural light, which was a bit disappointing, but the staff quickly accommodated me with a brighter room that exceeded my expectations.
